Affiliate Marketing is a Web-based Marketing
Wikipedia says that affiliate marketing is a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. It was invented in the early days of the adult pornography industry where adult sites would pay people to refer others to watch videos.
For more details go to: www.greatpromotionsite.com It wasn’t until 1994 when the first non-adult site developed a “Buy Web” program, which was the first “click-through” affiliate marketing service.
With the advent of blogging, social media sites, and e-commerce, affiliate marketing has grown exponentially. According to research from 2006, affiliates worldwide earned a total of $6.5 billion in commissions from a variety of different types of sources (online gambling sites, online stores, and even educational sites). With the anonymity of the internet world, the idea of affiliate marketing is one that simply just makes sense and is going to continue growing for a long time.
With so many different types of websites and advertising going on, it’s getting to the point where it’s hard to even determine what is and what isn’t affiliate marketing. Bar far wasn’t the first to offer an affiliate program, but in 2000, Amazon filed for a patent on the entire affiliate marketing process. A major impact in recent years has been web 2.0. New developments have made it harder for small websites to become known and to make money very efficiently through affiliate marketing.
Then again, web 2.0 has also been able to help many affiliate sites. One example of this was when a website started giving away free iPods after applying for one of the sites offerings and getting a set amount of their friends to do the same. People, not believing it to be true, started believing when people actually started received their iPods in the mail. For can visit to: www.master-affiliates-marketer.com what made it a success was the blogosphere. People were amazed that they were able to get an iPod for “free” and so they blogged about it and the internet buzzed with the new trend. It became so popular, even television news stations picked it up.
Now, there are so many fake affiliate sites, that it’s hard to determine what’s real and what isn’t. But there are still some that are guaranteed to work. Advertising has turned into a complex system, and can sometimes be considered affiliate marketing. CPM, CPC, CPA, CPS. Whenever people browse the internet, they’re in constant access to ads. This is now the major way a lot of sites make money. Businesses pay other websites based on their traffic and how many clicks their ads usually get. Google Adwords and Yahoo! Marketing are two major examples.
So all in all, affiliate marketing has many pros and cons. In future years, it will probably eventually become so obscure that no one will be able to tell what exactly is considered affiliate marketing anymore, but a new way of making money will always get old.

How do I select an affordable web affiliate program/service? Any recommendations?
I’m starting a web-based business. I’d like to create an affiliate marketing program to find and implement a program for referral agents and link backs. Any tips, suggestions or referrals for same?
I’m selling a professional marketing service to small business clients. Transactions are available by credit card payment on the site or by phone. No storefront. It’s national in scope.
clickbank is one choice which can take $50 for signup (check latest charges on their site). you can also use other services such as commission junction, you can also checkout for cleverbridge … but affiliates will not give you a link back i think …

Clickbank is good if you have an actual product like and ebook, videos or something physical.
But if your selling a service try Paydotcom they are quite flexible and much cheaper and manage your whole affiliate set up.

I would look for all the rotator programs I could find. Free banner ads that you can add to your site. Free classified ads. Usually they want you to add a small button of their site to your own.

Hi Steve. My name is Alan, good to meet you. The answer you seek may seem like it would be easy to answer by internet marketers, but it’s not. I’m sure you have done a lot of research on this and if you were like me, you have been overwhelmed by all the information overload. At first glance, it appears that the "gurus" all know what they are talking about. Many of them do, but here’s the issue……
They do NOT give you all the information you need to make a go of an internet business. In fairness to them, there are just too many variables involved, such as:
* Type of products you’re promoting
* Budget
* Experience
* Goals
* How much time you can devote
* Many many others
So, what is the solution? Unfortunately, it’s not a question of , "What products or programs should I promote?".
So what IS the answer?
Well, if you notice from any programs that you may have purchased, they all say to do different things to start and promote your business. The problem is, somewhere along the way, you will stumble across a task you do not understand or know how to do. In addition, it is not shown or explained to you.
So, the solution is to master the basics first. I know that sounds simple, but that’s it. Once you master the basics, like FTP, creating simple web pages, domain hosting, working with images, and on and on, etc., etc., then all the products and programs that you purchase that show you how to run an affiliate/internet marketing business will all start to make sense. SO when they ask you to create a web page then FTP it to your hosting account, you will know what to do. When it asks you to create follow up messages in your autoresponder account, you’ll know hat to do.
You get the idea. So Steve, my advice to you is to master the basics first, then everything else will make sense. Yo will be able to look around on the internet and automatically know hjat it will take to succeed. You may not understand that logic right now, but PLEASE take my word for it. I learned all this the hard way.
Before I go, I will shamelessly plug the ONLY affiliate education program I have seen that will take you by the hand, step by step, using hands on video tutorials. They offer free hosting, hundreds of videos and articles, and too many other stuff to talk about here. But it is done without information overload.
Please check this site out and let me know if you have any questions.
I hope this has helped.
