Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:
http://www.avivadirectory.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=kahmer
http://www.kahmer.com
http://www.joeant.com
The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank
with Yahoo / Google / MSN.
References :
Just concentrate on the top three - Google, Yahoo! and MSN, and honestly, just concentrate on Google and you will be better off as Google converts the best right now. You also need a good resource to rely on. Here is the source that I use.
References :
http://www.webmarketingnow.com/

Hey there Kristie M, There is a lot involved in this question and is also the key to a good or bad listing within the search engines. You must use good keywords and what are referred to as trailer keywords. But in saying that you must not overdo it with these words or You may be accused of spamming your pages and the engines will not list them. You also need great content. This is what the engines are after. Then there is the linking both in and out. If you link to another site or sites that tells the engines you can offer more info besides what you have. If you have sites linking back to you that tells the engines that you have great content and others are willing to link to you because of that. so as you can see there is more to it than meets the eye.
You can submit to engines but this may take a while or have some one do it for you at a cost and this also takes a bit of time but will list you quicker.

If you would like help with your site go to our website and have a nosy at the software that can show you how it is done. It wont list/submit the site for you but can show you how its done properly.

I hope this helps you out a little with the great big clouded world of search engines.

If you want to know more feel free to send me an e-mail
sholsdoinit@yahoo.com. I can send you to some great sites that specialize in this subject.
References :
http://www.kiwisdoinit.com

To truly get your site "found" through the search engines, like Google, MSN and Yahoo!, you must first fugure out what keywords you would like to target in the search results, who is your target audience, how you will sell your products (locally, nationally, or globally), and what kind of strategies you would like to implement. You also have to set up a budget you are willing to spend each month, marketing and advertising your site, in link directories, paid banner ads, pay-per-click, and other free and paid sites online...one tip too: Do not submit your site to ANY search engine; let their engiens find YOU and your site on their own; you will generate the most, natural traffic that way, pending you properly optimized and marketed your site.

Unfortunately, there is no get rich quick by means of the search engines strategy to get a site visible in the search engines and across the Internet...this process is often called search engine marketing or search engine optimization, and takes a great deal of time, patience, ongoing monitoring and testing, trial and error and most of all, experience - experience to do the job right.
References :
my own experience and knowledge

Go to youtube and post a video with a link to your site.
Or go to eBay and place a listing that promotes your site for more inofrmation. It's important you don't sell anything from that link.
Go where the traffic is first!
And redirect it back to you.
